Frequently Asked Questions

  • How is Chris Rhyne Financial Management compensated?

As a financial advisor, I will always be upfront about fees and how I am compensated when making recommendations. I do not charge an hourly fee to sit down and talk with you. I get paid three ways:

    1. Advisory fees for Wealth Management accounts.
    2. Commission for life insurance and some annuities.
    3. If you are happy with the work we do for you, we hope you’ll refer others to us.
  • Is there a minimum asset level to work with CRFM?

No. We work with many different clients, from those just starting a brand-new Roth IRA to retirees, where we manage millions of dollars in assets on their behalf.

  • Do you offer virtual meetings or work with out-of-state clients?

We always prefer face-to-face meetings, but there are times when a virtual meeting is more convenient, and we’re happy to make that happen. We work with clients all over the United States, and currently serve clients in CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, NC, NH, NJ, SC, TN, TX, & VA.

  • What makes CRFM different from other advisors?

At CRFM, we are not shy about our focus on relationships. We are not a transaction-based business and truly want our clients to feel important and appreciated. Everything we do lines up with our values of Customer Focus, Relationships/Respect, Financial Well-being, and Memorable Experiences (CRFM).

In addition, we are a small community, so we want our clients to understand the importance of confidentiality in our conversations.

  • Do you offer tax or estate planning advice, or coordinate with outside professionals?

We offer limited tax and estate planning concepts during our conversations and work with respected community professionals who share our values.

As a CFP®, I guide my clients through all areas of comprehensive financial planning. If a situation requires advanced knowledge, I have good relationships with attorneys, accountants, property & casualty agents, etc., whom I can refer my clients to.

At Chris Rhyne Financial Management, we help our clients with retirement savings, education savings, life insurance, mutual funds, and wealth management strategies.

  • Can you help with business succession or planning for a liquidity event?

Yes, we enjoy working with businesses and business owners, helping them set up retirement plans, conducting lunch-and-learn workshops for their employees, and assisting with succession planning.

  • Do you offer second opinions on existing portfolios or financial plans?

We are happy to review your current investment portfolios, run a portfolio snapshot, and make recommendations where we see opportunities to enhance your position.

  • How do you build and manage investment portfolios?

We discuss 3 things with our clients when building and managing their portfolios: time horizon (how long it will be before you use the assets), investment objectives (growth, capital preservation, or income), and risk tolerance (ability to “stomach” the ups and downs of the market).

  • What’s your approach to minimizing taxes on my investments and retirement income?

At least once per year, I conduct due diligence by researching the mutual funds and investments we use to ensure they continue to meet or exceed your goals. I also have great relationships with individuals employed by our mutual fund and investment companies, who keep us up to date on market performance.

  • What is your investment philosophy?

We manage nearly $100 million in client assets, so I am very serious about our investment philosophy and taking care of our clients. We help our clients coordinate their assets and achieve these three goals:

    • Create and maintain wealth
    • Save on taxes
    • Protect against financial risk

With that said, we talk with every client about their personal investment objectives, risk tolerance, and time horizon. Then we put together a long-term plan to help them meet their goals.
